Kenton theatre
The next gig we were going to be playing at after the oxjam gig was at the kenton theatre. Here ill be posting all the practice sessions we had for this event before we did it showing us developing as a musical ensemble.
LESSON 1
In this rehearsal we rehearsed all i want is you. This was our first choice and ensemble and we had a go at this song/ I was playing the classical guitar in this song. This was because as soon as i picked the guitar i could instantly play the melody the guitarist does in the actual song. This is the first time we officially played it through once we had all figured out our parts within the song.
In this song, Cameron the lead singer. This is because he knew the song the best and his voice suited the song the most and so fitted really well into the ensemble. He is still looking at the words from the computer as he doesn't know the words properly at this point. Here at this point everyone was a bit scetchy and we didn't have our lead guitarist either playing the solo. We decided that Lissie and Somer would be backing box because both their voices sounded really nice together and complimented Camerons voice. Demitris had never heard of the song before and so was playing the bass. This is because in the song, this was the easiest part to play in the song an was repeated the whole way through the song. Charlie was on drums because we felt that he was the best suited for this song as he had heard this song a lot more then Alex had. Millie was put on the acoustic guitar so she could make the sound of the ensemble more full and Joe was put on the piano because he could play this song the best on the piano. This meant it sounded a lot smother when he played it compared to anyone else who would have played it.
None of us knew this song perfectly comfortable and most of us didn't know what to do next. The harmonies were also being worked out at this point. Next session we will be covering a song called Sun by Two Door Cinema Club and we will see how that goes.

LESSON 2
This is our first practice of the song sun. Here at the beginning Alex is still trying to work out the chords for the intro. She is on the piano because we felt that she was the best pianist in this whole group of people and so would suit this part best. And me (the bassist) is still trying to work out the bass for the chorus. Im platting bass for this song because i know this song really well and the bass lines are quite difficult and so i was best suited for this task. Demitris new this guitar for this song well and had payed this song many of times before so we felt he was best for this song. Charlie was on the drums because Two Door Cinema club was his favourite band and so being a drummer he played the drums. This song was a lot more known to most of us but we still didn't really know how to play the parts properly so the songs wasn't that great at this point. The guitars were also out of tune as we had lack of preparation. In this session is was all learning the structure to the song and how to play the parts. This was the first rehearsal so we still needed to rehearse the parts ourselves propper before coming in as an ensemble again. Next session we will be going back to All I Want Is You and seeing how we have improved.

LESSON 3
This is our second run through go all i wanted was you. Here we new the structure a lot more then we did the last time we played together. I am also playing on the electric guitar today as we couldn't here me on the guitar last time, it is now louder and so helped so now everyone could hear me. Cameron has clearly practiced his words since the last rehearsal because he now knows the words. This was good because now it was easier for him to get more involved rather then just watching the computer screen. We sound a lot more tighter in this session because we had all practiced our individual bits at home. As an ensemble we still need to improve by being tighter. This is because we still sounded quite sloppy. We still need to work on our chemistry within the ensemble aswell. The lead guitarist wasnt here today either and so we just played through that bit but a little more heavier then normal. This was just to fill in as the guitarist wasn't there. We benifitted from this session because it definitely got us an ensemble tighter and we sounded a lot better then last time. Next session we will be practicing Sun again.

LESSON 4
This is our second run through of sun. At this point Alex learned her piano part and is now playing is a lot more comfortably. As an ensemble we are a lot more tighter, the guitarist and i the bassist know our parts a lot more clearly and are a lot more comfortable with the way we play. But we still need some work with the vocals due to somer loosing her lines in the song near the begging in. We also stopped at the bridge because we actually forgot what happened and didn't really know what we were playing and what we had to do. We have definitely showed improvement within this ensemble and are a lot more comfortable. Structure still needs to be leaned but overall we are developing well. We will be playing through All I Want Is You in our next session.

LESSON 5
This is our third run through in All I Want Is You. Here we are a lot more tighter as an ensemble and sound a lot better since our last session. Somer has worked out the harmonies and the whole performance generally sounds a lot more smoother. This was good because the song sounded a lot better and more cabinet. The bass was very out of tune here so in this particular run through it wasn't great but everyone else was a lot more tighter as an ensemble. We finally had our lead guitarist with us and the song was finally complete. It definitely made the song a lot more full and a lot more better. This was due to the uplifting solo done by Luke Tyler making the ensemble a lot more exciting. We were more smooth and there weren't as many mistakes within our run-through as we use to make with shows a lot of development. This session was definitely useful because now we could hear the songs as a full band rather then missing the lead guitarist.

LESSON 6
This is our third run through of the song Sun. We didn't have our drummer with us so we had another drummer with us. He didn't know the song as well as the last drummer and so improvised. The guitar was also out of tune here so this run through was not as good as last time. We didn't have our drummer there that day so the structure was disrupted and the song didn't sound as smooth. This was a particular bad run through as well as the next video.

LESSON 7
This was another run through of sun. Here Somer was still trying to work out the harmonies in the intro. The vocals were also very quiet in the song and we could really here it and the words were often forgotten. The lead guitarist looked confused at most parts of the song and most of us weren't particularly sure on what was the next part in the song. The last two videos are examples showing a bad day in rehearsing. We all needed to run through our parts individually so we can sound a lot more tight and can run through the song a lot more easier. in the next session we will go back to our song All I Want Is You. Unfortunatly this song was cut from the set list as there were to many acts in the kenton.

LESSON 8
this is the fourth run though on all i want it you. Here you can see we have improved massively since we first started playing the song. We sound a lot tighter and a lot more full now the lead guitarist is still here. We ran through the song a few more times in this session as the event at the kenton and we needed to be 100% by that event. Throughout the session we all focused on getting the techniques right, the singing right, the solo right and really jelling together as an ensemble to make it sound very strong. This was crucial because it was vital for an ensemble to sound tighter. We are all very prepared for this event and the song is sounding very nice compared to when we first started.

LESSON 9
This was our fifth and final run through of the song All I Want Is You before our event at the kenton. Since our first rehearsal we had massively improved and sound a lot more smoother since then. As an ensemble we sound a lot more clean and comfortable for the ear. Everyone now knows their parts. Everyone is a lot more comfortable playing this song swell. This was good because now all the players can now relax intend of looking really intense which is what we don't want the audience to hear. We are all ready for the gig. Everyone that was involved in this ensemble is a lot more settled into their parts and are a lot more enthusiastic within their parts of the song. We have developed massively since the beginning showing good development of a musical ensemble.

Performance Evaluation
Audience - Friends family and public people came to our event This means we managed to get a variety of different people to our event. This also meant that we were quite comfortable with the people we were playing in from of because we new most of them rather then knowing none of the audience. The reaction from the audience was also really good from what we got after our performance. They all clapped and cheered and so we feel it was a success.
Communication - In my ensemble we communicated a lot. I sat next to Like who actually forgot when he had to play the solo so i counted him in and so the song sounded just as it should have. This benifitted because if i didn't he may have not played the solo at all or played it at the wrong part of the song. For my group eye contact was an important. Not only did communication help eachother with the words but timing but eye contact enabled the players to feel more comfortable playing aroun their friends. Thi was good because we could relax more. Communication in the group also helped us look proffesional and made it look like we knew what we were doing.
Stage Presentation - As a whole in the ensemble, we all new that stage presentation was very importantant in our performance, we all needed to look relaxed and confidant and if we had any mistakes we shouldnt show them other wise the croud would more likely notice it. If you look messy and dont look confidant, the croud will assume your performance will be too. We all dressed well and none of us looked as we have just come out of the garbage tip, we all looked proffetional and all looked the part. We all looked out into the crowd and kept good eye contact with them making sure that the audiences stay engaged.
Musical Competency - I felt that we all played together very well, we sounded very smooth and we all looked pretty confidant on stage. Charlie on the drums was perfectly on time and kept the whole ensemble together and made it very tight. Levels of individuals was a main issue because Cameron the lead singer wasn't very loud and we couldn't really hear him, therefor the instruments overpowered the vocals. We went through the song very well and so it sounded very smooth, when we changed from chorus to bridge or verse to pre chorus it sounded smooth and didnt sound clashy, we all did very well to keep the performance consistent All the instruments we executed very well which as good because we sounded very tight.
Unfortunately he video for the actual performance didn't work so well so this is a Performance we did just before the Kenton. This performance went well because everyone played their part really well with little or no mistakes. The song sonded very clear and nice flowing. The only problem is we had no mice for the singers so every instrument had to be played much more quieter the usual which didn't seem to have any effect at all. Overall i think the performance went really well and from when we actually played it live at the kenton the reaction was really good.
